Top 10 key trends for spring/summer 2013

Ahead of London Fashion Week’s AW 2013 shows (Feb 15-19, in case you didn’t already know!), we look back at LFW’s SS2013′s shows, which left us with a long and diverse list of trends to try out over the next few month. There really is something in here for everyone.

So because we know that you’ll be shopping to fill your wardrobes with this season’s hottest styles, we thought we’d help you out by giving you a nifty little lowdown of the top 10 hottest key trends for spring/summer 2013…

90s

Who’da thunk it? The minimalist tailoring and baggy trousers favoured by fashionistas in the nineties are back in! But don’t worry – there’s not a hint of Spice Girls in there:

Bare midriff

There was a strong theme of bare midriff at a variety of London shows – you can team a cropped top with a high-waisted trouser or skirt to subtly incorporate one of this season’s sexiest – and riskiest – looks into your wardrobe this spring/summer.

Biker jackets

The little bomber jacket has been a staple of catwalk looks for a few seasons now, but we happily welcome the little leather or denim biker jacket back in to our wardrobes this season.

Checks

Checks are chic. Undeniably. CHECK these out… (Get it?)

Metallic iridescence

High sheen, sequins and holographic fabrics gave this seasons LFW a futuristic flavour. The all-over iridescence look is a pretty daring leap for for high street fashionistas, so Laura and I reckon we’re going to be seeing flashes of metallic shine rather than entire gaudy outfits… But we’d pleased to see the latter at somewhere like Topshop if they can pull it off!

Neons

Now this is one of the catwalk’s bolder looks, but even if you’re not up for all-over neon, you can incorporate it into your wardrobe in little accents – like the lining of this stunner:

Oriental

There were some stunning oriental patterns at LFW’s SS 2013 show – check out these beauties…

Snakeskin

Rock the serpent look this spring/summer with beautifully inventive patterns like these:

Stripes

Be they horizontal, vertical or diagonal, stripes are categorically IN this season. Beautiful!
